Thanks to the eight states who have now legalized marijuana, nearly 1 in 5 Americans can now enjoy legal weed. Those who are happily smoking legalized marijuana today are lucky, but they also have many advocates for legalization throughout history to thank. Peter Tosh, the legendary reggae icon, is one of those people who helped paved the path to legal weed. Croptoberfest 2016 [Event]

This year’s Croptoberfest in Yakima, Washington celebrates the past, present and future of the newest agricultural economy in Washington: the cannabis industry.

Where: 52 North 3rd Street, Yakima, Washington

What: The 3rd annual Croptoberfest will feature: an educational seminar on the future of the agricultural promise of cannabis, a cannabis expo and an after party. Croptoberfest plays off of the classic “Octoberfest” which celebrates beer and hops in all of its forms. Croptoberfest is a chance to come together to celebrate the new and beautiful cannabis industry.

According to Croptoberfest, “We find ourselves in a tremendously exciting time in history. Never have we seen a prohibited plant that holds so much value to today’s economy be released from the chains of the mis-education that over seventy years of propaganda have delivered our society. We launched Croptoberfest to assist in these efforts.”

Who: Adults 21+ can come to meet cannabis producers, processors, retailers and industry leaders in a variety of platforms. The educational seminar will feature many distinguished speakers such as Joe Beckerman, Principle of Hemp Ace International and longtime cannabis agriculture activist, Dr. Alan Schreiber President of Agricultural Development Group, Inc. which provides independent research and consulting services to agriculture industries, and Jedidiah Haney who founded Evergreen Industries SPC.

Raises conversation on cannabis’ environmental challenges, cultivation practices and sustainable designs

Where: The Colorado Convention Center, Denver, Colorado

What: The one day event featuring many industry leaders will educate attendees on the latest techniques and technologies for safe cannabis production. Topics include: environmental challenges, energy efficiency, water management, waste management, integrated pest management, cultivation practices and sustainable designs.

Who: Hosted by the Organic Cannabis Association, organized by the Cannabis Sustainability Work Group and supported by Denver Environmental Health. The keynote speaker for this year’s Cannabis Sustainability Symposium is legendary farmer and author, Joel Salatin. Everyone is invited to buy tickets to this mindful event.

Snoop Dogg is making the Washington rounds again! Vela, a new cannabis store in Seattle’s SoDo area, is now open to the public! Seattle’s 25th Annual HEMPFEST Recap

The quarter century mark for Seattle’s HEMPFEST, the annual free speech protestival, went off without a hitch. Thousands of cannabis supporters poured onto the Seattle waterfront for three days of marijuana related booths, hemp education, live local music, banging loudspeakers, company swag and more. The world’s largest marijuana related event was truly a sight to see as the sun shined down on everyone’s happy day. This was lucky, since last year’s event had been barraged by pouring rain. SoCal Cannabis Fundraiser Shut Down by LAPD

Advocate, an event planned in Southern California for August 21st, was postponed due to opposition from the local LA police force. The cannabis industry fundraiser was meant to shed light on the legal implications that the cannabis industry faces. Ushering in a new era of marijuana advocacy, Advocate was intended to be an evening of fun, entertainment and activism as they honored the groups fighting for business owner and patient rights: California Growers Association, Los Angeles Cannabis Task Force and the California Cannabis Delivery Alliance.
