2016 was a record year for cannabis in Colorado; to the tune of almost $200 million. Adults 21 years of age and older can now legally possess up to two and a half ounces of marijuana, grow up to six flowering marijuana plants and 12 non-flowering plants, and possess the marijuana harvested from those plants inside their residence. It will remain illegal to use marijuana in public and to drive while impaired by marijuana. The law will not affect employers’ drug-testing policies or their rights to prohibit marijuana use by employees.
The Legislature is also in the process of establishing a regulated system of marijuana cultivation and sales, which is currently scheduled to be up and running by February 1, 2018.
“The era of marijuana prohibition in Maine is finally coming to an end,” said David Boyer, Maine political director for the Marijuana Policy Project, who served as campaign manager for the Yes on 1 campaign. “Responsible adult marijuana consumers will no longer be harassed and treated like criminals. Police will be able to spend more time addressing serious crimes rather than punishing adults for using a substance that is safer than alcohol.”

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and a cannabis industry company is stepping up in support.
Bloom Farms, a medical cannabis company based out of San Francisco, has just released a limited edition pink vape pen and vape cartridge in support of breast cancer awareness. The vape pen is a version of their award-winning Highlighter vape pen.
Bloom Farms has also donated $5000 to Susan G. Komen Circle of Promise. This initiative aims to counter the inequality in breast cancer survival amongst African American women. The Circle of Promise is a resource for women in the fight against breast cancer.

When we took a recent weed trip up to Spokane, Washington, we were excited to get a few more punches on our pot shop loyalty punch cards. Having saved them up for a while, many of them promised discounts once fully filled in. When we arrived, we learned of a brand new I-502 rule, which states that this type of marketing is banned as of July 1, 2016.
