Tennessee, a state which recently wrote a bill allowing the tentative growth and cultivation of hemp, has received at least 53 applications so far from farmers who want to cash in on the green rush. This sure-to be hot new commodity is different than traditional marijuana; hemp does not produce active THC to get you high. Instead, hemp’s uses range from industrial to medicinal, hemp can create clothing and rope and you name it!
The deadline for planting this year is this May, so lawmakers will need to give federal approval soon if cultivation is to begin this year. If not, there’s always next year…
