Cannabis can take us many places; and now it can take us places outside of our own heads and homes. A man named Bruce Dietzen has developed a car made out of cannabis. Using cannabis to build the body of the car allows it to be lighter and more dent resistant than any other car available while using renewable resources to construct.
The car’s body consists of about 100 pounds of woven hemp fabric. Hemp is the sibling to marijuana. Hemp contains very low amounts of THC and has been used for thousands of years to make everything from textiles to buildings to paper. Both hemp and marijuana are both the same species (Cannabis sativa) but their uses are differ vastly.
Dietzen’s prototype is the first of many. He plans on launching a series of cannabis made cars which will hopefully be on the market later this year.
